Los puertos del noroeste de Portugal presentan características específicas, según sus antiguas y nuevas funcionalidades. Nos centramos, de norte a sur, en el puerto de Viana do Castelo, Leixões/Porto y Aveiro, herederos de marcas en la relación entre la naturaleza y la instalación humana. Buscamos diagnosticar la posibilidad de que estas administraciones portuarias consideren el patrimonio del que son herederas un factor de forja de nuevos bienes culturales, a imagen y semejanza de algunas experiencias europeas. Se constata que existen iniciativas, pero su articulación con las instancias culturales, nacionales y locales son desiguales y discontinuas, lo que requiere acciones integradas y planificadas para la recuperación de los paisajes culturales portuarios.
The ports of north-west Portugal present specific characteristics, according to their old or new functionalities. We focus, from north to south, on the ports of Viana do Castelo, Leixões/Porto and Aveiro, heirs of landmarks in the relationship between nature and human settlement. The aim is the diagnosis of the possibilities of these port administrations considering the heritage, of which they are heirs, as a factor capable of forging new cultural assets, a reflection of some European experiences. It is true that there are initiatives, but their articulation with cultural, national and local instances are unequal and discontinuous, demanding integrated and planned recovery actions of the port cultural landscapes.
