En este texto se exponen algunas ideas que surgen de una primera aproximación al pensamiento del lingüista neerlandés Teun Van Dijk, uno de los fundadores del análisis crítico del discurso. La intención en este trabajo es mostrar algunos elementos que nos permitan comprender cómo es que el poder se reproduce por medio del discurso. Para llegar a este objetivo primero tendremos que entender qué son las representaciones sociales y advertir la manera en que éstas se relacionan con el discurso. Se advertirá que ocurre una doble relación, pues, veremos que, por un lado, las representaciones sociales constituyen el aspecto cognitivo que permite la expresión e interpretación de los discursos; y, por otro, las representaciones sociales se reproducen por medio del discurso. Finalmente, se mostrará que el poder se reproduce por medio del discurso implantando, con una determinada estrategia, representaciones sociales en la mente de las personas. Entré más se divulguen y perpetúen ciertas representaciones sociales, más efectivo será el discurso.
This text presents some ideas that arise from a first approach to the thought of the Dutch linguist Teun Van Dijk, one of the founders of the critical discourse analysis. The intention of this work is to show some elements that allow us to understand how power is reproduced through discourse. To reach this objective, first we have to understand what social representations are and to notice how they relate to discourse. It will be shown that a double relation occurs, because, on one hand, we will see that social representations constitute the cognitive aspect that allows the expression and interpretation of the speeches; and, on the other hand, social representations are reproduced by means of speech. Finally, it will be shown that power is reproduced through the speech which implants social representations in people's minds according to certain strategys. The more certain social representations are divulged and perpetuated, the more effective the discourse will be.
