Este texto se centra en la importancia de las ciudades con patrimonio cultural que devienen ciudades turísticas, esto es, pasan de habitadas por sus habitantes, a ser -sin perder el estatus anterior- presumidas y consumidas por el turismo. Se trata de ciudades que por su belleza estética, paisajística y arquitectónica; su lugar geográfico memorable e incomparable; su historia valorada y épica; y su atractivo patrimonial nombrado y destacado, se ofertan y llevan a cabo una puesta en valor de su atractivo de cara al turismo. Esto conlleva cambios, pues los habitantes la comparten con los visitantes que llegan a conocerla y disfrutarla. Todo ello es una estrategia económica, sin embargo, también tiene como consecuencia problemas de sustentabilidad.
Aquí se presenta, junto a la reflexión anterior, un estudio del tema centrado en Pátzcuaro, una ciudad de Michoacán. Es una ciudad con turismo histórico y con turismo en nuestros días, que ha sido siempre valorada y hoy revalorada por su patrimonio cultural y su atractivo turístico, y que también presenta problemas de sustentabilidad.
This text focuses on the importance of cities with cultural heritage become tourist cities, i.e., are inhabited by its inhabitants, to be - without losing previous status - presumed and consumed by tourism. It's cities beauty aesthetic, landscape and architectural; its geographical location, memorable and unique; their story valued and epic; and its heritage attraction named and prominent, offer and carry out a setting value of its appeal with regard to tourism.
