Los memes de Internet dejaron de ser simples imágenes y vídeos con un tono gracioso que pretendían burlarse de una situación. En los últimos años se convirtieron en un medio con una potente carga comunicativa que pretende reconstruir una realidad. Este trabajo tiene como objetivo determinar al meme como elemento significativo que permite retratar la situación política, económica y social del país. Para ello, se estudia la definición de meme como evolución del propuesto por Richard Dawkins en El gen egoísta (1976) y se realiza un Análisis del Discurso Multimodal a dos memes creados en Venezuela y compartidos a través de redes
The Internet memes are no longer simple images and videos with a funny tone that tried to make fun of a situation. In recent years they have become a medium with a powerful communicative charge that seeks to reconstruct a reality. The objective of this work is to determine if the meme as a significant element allows portraying the political, economic and social situation of the country. To do this, we study the definition of meme as evolution proposed by Richard Dawkins in The Selfish Gene (1976). Descriptive research was selected, which uses documentary and non-experimental field research with techniques such as interviewing creators of memes, a Multimodal Discourse Analysis and bibliography review
