Una crisis sanitaria global como la generada por la COVID-19 puede ser el detonante de altera-ciones en los mercados alimentarios mundiales que provoquen, nuevamente, alzas en los pre-cios de los alimentos básicos. Estas subidas afectan especialmente a las poblaciones más vulne-rables del planeta cuya capacidad económica es insuficiente para afrontar tal subida de precios. Teniendo en cuenta que la seguridad alimentaria constituye un verdadero derecho humano, es necesario analizar de qué instrumentos, especialmente globales, disponemos para analizar y alertar sobre las crisis de precios, los mecanismos de orientación y políticas para prever y afron-tar esas crisis y los instrumentos que están disponibles para gestionar las crisis ya provocadas.
A global health crisis such as the current one caused by COVID-19 may be the trigger for changes in world food markets that, once again, cause increases in the prices of basic foodstuffs. These rises espe-cially affect the most vulnerable populations on the planet, whose economic capacity lacks the means to deal with such a rise in prices. Taking into account that food security constitutes a true human right, it is necessary to analyze what instruments, especially global, we have to analyze and warn about price crises, about the orientation and policy mechanisms to anticipate and deal with these crises and what instruments are available to manage already caused crises
