A crise econômica brasileira vivenciada atualmente e intensificada após a crise mundial de 2008, impacta em diversos setores da sociedade, dentre eles o da saúde suplementar. A partir do método dedutivo de abordagem, interessa a este artigo a análise de alguns dos reflexos da crise econômica brasileira no setor da saúde suplementar. Para tanto, aborda-se inicialmente o histórico do setor no país, e, na sequência, será realizado o cotejo entre crise e a saúde suplementar, delineando-se alguns de seus reflexos e impactos, especialmente a redução no número de beneficiários e o aumento da judicialização das matérias envolvendo o setor.
The Brazilian economic crisis that has been experienced and intensified after the global crisis of 2008 has had an impact on several sectors of society, including supplementary health. From the deductive method of approach, this article is interested in the analysis of some of the reflexes of the Brazilian economic crisis in the supplementary health sector. In order to do so, the country's history of the sector is initially approached and, in the sequence, the comparison between crisis and supplementary health will be carried out, outlining some of its impacts, especially the reduction in the number of beneficiaries and the increase of the judicialization of matters involving the sector.
