Achieving the loyalty of public servants is one of the basic objectives when a change in political regime occurs. During the reign of Ferdinand VII, the swings between the principles of the Ancien Regime were constant against the new derivatives of the French Revolution. Drastic were also the changes that, in the fourth decade of the 20th century, brought Franco’s rise to power. In both cases, each move involved a review of the behavior of those, especially members of the justice system, to determine their fidelity to the new prevailing regime and, consequently, whether or not they could continue in their job. This study shows some examples of those reviews.
