En el artículo, se abordan el origen y la evolución de la Comunidad Andina de Naciones (CAN) y su relación con la Unión Europea (UE). En él se analiza la relación inicial de cooperación a través del sistema de preferencia generalizada (SPG) de la UE hacia la CAN y la posterior intención de ambas organizaciones por llegar a firmar un acuerdo de asociación que incluyera, además de la coopera-ción, los ámbitos comercial y político. Tras el fracaso del Acuerdo de Asociación entre ambos blo-ques, la UE inició negociaciones con los Estados miembros de la CAN de manera independiente, los cuales concluyeron con la firma de acuerdos comerciales con tres Estados de los cuatro que integran la CAN; aspecto que se analiza, además de visualizar el statu quo de la relación y la repercusión de los acuerdos comerciales para los países miembros de la CAN y para la propia CAN.
In the article, it is addressed the origin and evolution of the Andean Community of Nations (ACN) and its relationship with the European Union (EU). The initial relationship of cooperation through the system of generalized preference of the EU towards the ACN and the subsequent intention of both organizations to reach an agreement of the Association that includes, in addition to cooperation, the commercial and political spheres is analyzed. After the failure of this attempt of Association Agreement between both blocks, the EU initiated negotiations with the Member States of the ACN independently, which were concluded with the signing of the Commercial Agreement by three States of the four members of the ACN. This aspect is analyzed, besides visualizing the statu quo of the relationship and the repercussion of the commercial agreements on the member countries of the ACN and for the ACN itself.
