En el presente artículo se aborda el proceso de la Reforma Universitaria de 1918 desde una perspectiva latinoamericanista. En primer lugar se contextualiza la época de la reforma y se la inscribe como parte un movimiento que excede la cuestión universitaria y el territorio nacional. En segundo lugar se sintetizan las ideas rectoras que impulsaba la reforma. Luego se analiza la reforma en relación con la Patria Grande, señalando tanto las figuras latinoamericanas que influyeron en su gestación como el impacto que tuvo una vez ocurrida la revuelta en Córdoba, y su propagación a toda la región. Finalmente se realiza un examen crítico de su trayectoria, y se busca revisar y actualizar los postulados de la reforma. Este ejercicio nos exige interpretar el contexto actual, entender las tensiones y disputas en relación a modelos de educación superior, para desde allí determinar las características fundamentales que identifican a la Universidad latinoamericana, en esa larga lucha que nace con la reforma de 1918, que proponemos defender para su permanente consolidación y profundización.
This article addresses the process of the University Reform of 1918 from a Latin American perspective. First, the time of the reform is contextualized and registered as part of a movement that exceeds the university question and the national territory. Secondly, the guiding ideas that promoted the reform are synthesized. Then the reform is analyzed in relation to the “Patria Grande”, pointing out both the Latin American figures that influenced its gestation and the impact that the revolt in Córdoba had had, and its spread throughout the region. Finally, a critical examination of its trajectory is carried out, and it seeks to review and update the postulates of the reform. This exercise requires us to interpret the current context, understand the tensions and disputes in relation to higher education models, and from there determine the fundamental characteristics that identify the Latin American University, in that long struggle that was born with the 1918 reform, which we propose defend for its permanent consolidation and deepening.
