El artículo muestra que la reivindicación de nuevas formas de hacer política, de expresar intereses en juego y de nuevas formas de participación y solución de problemas y necesidades son algunas de las consecuencias que han tenido para la democracia el desarrollo de los movimientos sociales y las organizaciones voluntarias de ciudadanos. Sin pretensión de que ello signifique una solución inmediata de los graves problemas que afectan a la democracia representativa, estos fenómenos expresan una nueva forma de hacer política, en la medida que buscan articular estrechamente la participación política y la participación ciudadana y social.
Der Artikel zeigt, dass die Geltendmachung neuer Formen, Politik zu treiben und den auf dem Spiel stehenden Interessen Ausdruck zu geben, sowie neuer Formen der Partizipation und der Lösung von Problemen und Bedürfnissen, einige der Folgen sind, die die Entwicklung von sozialen Bewegungen und von Bürgerorganisationen auf freiwilliger Basis für die Demokratie darstellen. Wenn diese auch nicht beanspruchen, eine unmittelbare Lösung der schwerwiegenden Probleme zu sein, die die repräsentative Demokratie beeinträchtigen, sind jene Phänomene jedoch Ausdruck neuer Formen von Politik, in dem Masse als sie die politische Partizipation mit der sozialen Partizipation der Bürger zu verbinden suchen.
The article shows that claims of new ways of doing politics, of expressing interests involved, and new forms of participation and solving problems and needs are some of the consequences that the development of social movements and voluntary organizations of citizens have had for democracy. Without pretension that this should mean an immediate solution of the serious problems affecting representative democracy, these phenomena express a new way of doing politics, as they closely articulate political participation and civic and social participation as well.
