La hipótesis defendida aquí es que las ciencias sociales no son hijas, ni clones, ni subsidiarias de las naturales. Desde que surgieron sufrieron reduccionismos lógico-empíricos injustos; porque el objeto de investigación, los métodos y los intereses que se juegan en el ámbito de los estudios sociales son diferentes a los estudios sobre la naturaleza, no sólo desde lo cognoscitivo sino también desde sus efectos sobre lo real. No es diferente, en cambio, el espacio de poder en el que se desenvuelven. Eso es lo que realmente está en juego y suele disfrazarse, entre otras cosas, como una descalificación de las ciencias sociales, en tanto carecerían de la capacidad de medición que, se supone, gozan las naturales.
The hypothesis presented here is that social sciences are neither daughters, nor clones, or subsidiaries of natural sciences. From the very beginning they suffered unfair logical-empiric reductionism because their object of study, their methods and the interests involved in the field of social studies are different from the studies on nature, not only from the cognitive point of view but also from their effects on reality. The same happens with the space of power in which they develop. It is precisely this what is in question and it is usually disguised as a disqualification of the social sciences, due to their lack of measuring capacity that the natural sciences seem to enjoy.
Die hier verteidigte These besagt, dass die Sozialwissenschaften weder Töchter, noch Klone oder Abkömmlinge der Naturwissenschaften sind. Seit ihrer Entwicklung haben sie ungerechten logisch-empirischen Reduktionen unterlegen, weil der Forschungsgegenstand, die Methoden und die Interessen, die im Bereich der Sozialwissenschaften eine Rolle spielen, andere sind als die der Naturwissenschaften – dies allerdings nicht nur von einer erkenntnistheoretischen Perpektive her, sondern vor allem bezüglich ihrer Auswirkungen auf das Wirkliche. Dagegen ist jedoch der Machtbereich, innerhalb dessen sie sich entfalten, kein anderer. Dieser ist es, was wirklich im Spiel ist und was, unter anderem, gewöhnlich als eine Abwertung der Sozialwissenschaften verkleidet wird, weil ihnen die angeblich den Naturwissen-schaften eigene Fähigkeit des Messens mangelt.
