En Colombia, la Policía, es uno de los agentes de transformación de realidades ambientales debido a su injerencia en las problemáticas sociales y ambientales; sus Representaciones Sociales sobre Medio Ambiente y Educación Ambiental son reflejo, entre otros, de los currículos de las Escuelas de policía, que son instituciones universitarias avaladas por el Ministerio de Educación de Colombia;
dichos currículos están permeados por las Políticas de Educación y Medio Ambiente en Colombia que resaltan la responsabilidad educativa y ambiental de sectores diferentes al escolar. El propósito de este artículo es presentar un análisis de las Representaciones Sociales de Medio Ambiente y Educación Ambiental de los miembros activos de la Policía de Protección Ambiental y Ecológica del Valle de Aburrá, a la luz de las Representaciones de la Política Nacional de Educación Ambiental. Se realizó una entrevista semi-estructurada y el análisis de los discursos obtenidos se ejecutó a través de los métodos propuestos por la teoría fundamentada.
Los resultados evidencian que aún se requiere mayor compromiso por parte de los altos mandos y de otros grupos del sector público incluyendo entidades territoriales, corporaciones autónomas regionales y universidades para dar mayor credibilidad, autonomía e impacto al grupo.
In Colombia, the Police Officers play an important role in transforming environmental issues due to their daily intervention in both social and environmental problems. The social representations of Environment and Environmental Education this group has reflect the curriculum of Police Officers’ Schools that are universities approved by the Ministry of Education, that curriculum is permeated by the Environmental Education Policy which emphasizes that the responsibility of environmental culture transformation exist in sectors other than schools. The main objective of this article was to analyze the Social Representations of the Environment and Environmental Education performed by Aburrá Valley Ecological and Environmental Protection Police Officers. The secondary objective was to recognize the social representations and observe them in the context of the National Environmental Education Policy of Colombia. The discursive data collection was held through a half-structured interview; the processual and structural analysis of the Social Representations was carried out through the founded theory method. The results show that a higher commitment from the officials including governors, decentralized groups and others is needed in order to give more credibility and autonomy to this group.
