  El proceso de redacción del Código civil español comienza con la invasión napoleónica y el intento de imponer el Código francés. En el año 1812 las Cortes de Cádiz incluyen en la nueva Constitución el proyecto de alcanzar un Código civil unitario para todos los españoles. El camino legislativo hasta llegar al texto definitivo del Código está lleno de obstáculos y de avances. No fue hasta después de la Restauración de la monarquía cuando se logró culminar, en 1889, el texto final.

  The process of drafting the Spanish Civil Code begins with the napoleonic invasion and the attempt to impose the French Code. In 1812, the «Cortes de Cádiz» included in the new Constitution the project of achieving a unitary Civil Code for all Spanish. The legislative path to reach the final text of the Code is full of obstacles and progress. It was not until the Restoration of the monarchy that the final text was completed, in 1889.
