En este trabajo identificamos condiciones que debe cumplir la información para ser de calidad. Entendemos la información como el contenido de las representaciones indicativas tales como creencias, enunciados, opiniones, hipótesis, teorías. Este tipo de representaciones tienen un determinado valor de verdad dependiendo de si su contenido se corresponde a la realidad. La información es de calidad cuando es verdadera, relevante y plural. Subrayamos la necesidad de implementar mecanismos y rutinas sociales y cognitivas que neutralicen y corrijan un consumo sesgado de la información. En las sociedades democráticas la calidad de la información tiene una dimensión normativa que obliga a regular los canales y agentes que tienen la función de informar. La información de calidad es un bien social que afecta a derechos y deberes fundamentales y que, como tal, requiere de un escrupuloso tratamiento por parte de profesionales e instituciones.
En nuestro análisis partimos de una perspectiva realista-naturalista sobre el conocimiento, la información y la verdad.
In this paper we identify conditions that information must meet in order to be of quality. We understand information as the content of indicative representations such as beliefs, statements, opinions, hypotheses, theories. These types of representations have a certain truth value depending on whether their content corresponds to reality. The information is of quality when it is true, relevant and plural. We underline the need to implement social and cognitive mechanisms and routines that neutralize and correct a biased consumption of information. In democratic societies, the quality of information has a normative dimension that forces to regulate the channels and agents that have the function of informing. Quality information is a social good that affects fundamental rights and duties and, as such, requires scrupulous treatment by professionals and institutions. In our analysis we adopt a realistic-naturalistic perspective on knowledge, information and truth.
