The involvement of citizens in the financing of local public action has the double political advantage of nurtuting the contempormy aspiration to participate in political decision-making and of supplementing the panel of imaginative financing. But the central issue remains the relationship between citizens and taxation. There seems to be a need to engage citizens more directly in financing local public actions, but perhaps most of all we need to re-elect taxes .
