Este artículo es una primera aproximación a los fundamentos institucionales de la economía de la eurorregión formada por Galicia y el Norte de Portugal. Sobre las bases teóricas de la nueva economía institucional se justifica la importancia de las instituciones en el análisis regional, por lo que el estudio de la eurorregión debe incorporar las cuestiones históricas, políticas y culturales. Este enfoque abre una agenda de investigación en materia de economía de las instituciones que reclama un esfuerzo multidisciplinar para la comprensión de las instituciones de la eurorregión y de sus efectos.
The article is a first approach to the institutional foundations of the economy of the Euroregion formed by Galicia and North Portugal. On the theoretical bases of the new institutional economy we justify the importance of the institutions in regional analysis, so the study of the Euroregion has to include historical, political and cultural questions. This approach opens up an agenda of research in the area of economics of the institutions, which calls for a multidisciplinary effort for the understanding of the institutions of the Euroregion and their effects.
