Al fi nalizar en 1982 la guerra en el Atlántico Sur, el gobierno británico inició un debate sobre el futuro militar de las islas que se centraba sobre dos instancias, una referida al enfrentamiento con Argentina y otra referida a la proyección de las islas como posición estratégica en la Guerra Fría. La respuesta fue la Fortaleza Malvinas. El presente trabajo realiza una aproximación al origen y desarrollo político-militar de esta base desde la dimensión histórico-diplomática y su incidencia en la posición estratégica argentina de denuncia y solidaridad en el contexto latinoamericano orientada hacia este enclave colonial militar británico.AbstractAt the end of the South Atlantic war in 1982, the British government started a debate on the military future of the islands, focused on two topics: one referring to the confl ict with Argentina and the other referring to the islands as a strategic position in the Cold War scenario. Th e answer was the so-called “Falkland Fortress.” This paper presents an approach to the origin and development of this politicalmilitary base from the historical-diplomatic point of view, and its impact on the Argentinean strategic position of denunciation and solidarity in the Latin American context, oriented towards this British colonial military enclave.
