En este trabajo se estudian varias constituciones venezolanas desde el punto de vista de los principios de justicia —imperio de la ley, separación de poderes, derechos humanos— que integran el Estado de Derecho. Partiendo de la Carta Magna fundacional de 1811 y las que la siguieron, se pueden comprender algunas de las características de nuestro sistema jurídico, incluyendo el persistente divorcio entre las reglas constitucionales y la realidad social a lo largo de la historia política de Venezuela.AbstractIn this article we analyze several Venezuelan Constitutions from the viewpoint of the moral principles—legality, separation of powers, human rights—that make up the Rule of Law. Starting from the first Constitution on 1811 and the following, we can understand some characteristic features of our legal system, including the persistent divorce between constitutional rules and social reality throughout the political history of Venezuela.
