Infesting insects caused, during the centuries, the loss of countless historic and artistic testimonies. In order to defend these materials from entomological infestations, in the last years have been created various systems to prevent attacks or to interrupt them. The paper describes the different insect species and the conditions which facilitate their settlement. It deals also with the most common disinfestation methodologies which have to face who works for the cultural heritage’s safeguard.
