La autora interpreta la crisis actual de la centroizquierda como el agotamiento de una fuerza política que condujo al país a logros muy importantes, aunque mostró también sus límites. Construir una nueva fuerza, arguye, no será sencillo, y exige adoptar un relato coherente de la historia del sector valorando la identidad de la izquierda democrática y moderna que participó de esa experiencia, y asumiendo también aquellos límites. Sólo desde ahí se podría formular un nuevo referente hacia el futuro en torno a los desafíos que hoy enfrenta la sociedad chilena y planteándose preguntas que a nivel global están sin respuesta por parte del pensamiento progresista.
The author interprets the current crisis of the centre-left as the exhaustion of a political force that led the country to very substantial achievements, although it also showed its limitations.
Building a new force, she argues, will not be straightforward and will mean adopting a coherent narrative of the sector’s history that values the identity of the modern, democratic left which took part in this experience. Only on this basis can a new, forward-looking platform be developed for the challenges now facing Chilean society, raising questions that progressive thought has yet to find answers to at the global level.
