La actividad económica relacionada con la cultura representa más del 2,4% del PIB en España. En particular, el turismo cultural justifica el 16,8% y más del 12% del total de viajes realizados en 2016 por residentes y extranjeros en el territorio nacional, respectivamente, según el Anuario Estadístico Cultural 2017. La valoración de los Bienes de Interés Cultural que son visitados por turistas implica utilizar, entre otros, métodos directos que consideren las preferencias de los posibles demandantes. Los objetivos de esta investigación han sido, en primer lugar, identificar las características de los turistas extranjeros que llegan a la ciudad de Jaén y, en segundo término, evaluar cuantitativamente a partir del método de valoración contingente la disposición a pagar por los servicios ofertados por un centro de interpretación del patrimonio sobre un bien cultural.
Culture-related economic activity accounts for more than 2.4% Spain’s GDP. Specifically, according to the 2017 Spanish Cultural Statistical Yearbook, cultural tourism is the motivation for 16,8% and more than 12% of the 2016 total trips made in Spain by domestic and foreign tourists, respectively. Valuation of Cultural Heritage that are visited by tourists involves using, among others, direct methods that consider the preferences of the potential demanders. The aim of this research is twofold: first, describing the socio-economic profile of the tourists who come to Jaén, and second, to quantitatively assess using the contingent valuation method the willingness to pay for the services offered by an Interpretation Centre of the Cultural Heritage.
