No podría hablar de la mediación sin compartir lo que ha significado para mí esta experiencia profesional. Pero antes, propongo descubrir el camino que ha recorrido la Mediación Penal Juvenil en Cataluña en la última década. Cómo nace en 1990, cómo crece y se afianza con la Ley orgánica 4/92. Trataré también de destacar en la Ley orgánica 5/2000, reguladora de la responsabilidad penal del menor, los puntos más relevantes para la mediación. Las vivencias y las reflexiones inherentes a esta experiencia, me llevarán a analizar los beneficios que la mediación tiene para sus protagonistas, y a otras reflexiones sobre la mediación en el ámbito penal juvenil.
I could not talk about mediation without sharing what this professional experience has meant for me. However, first of all I would Iike to review the progress of Juvenile Penal Mediation in Catalonia in the last decade. How it was born in 1990, how it grew and became consolidated with the Organic Law 4/92. I shall also try to underpin the most salient points for mediation obtained in Organic Law 5/2000 regulating the penal responsibility of minors. The experience and reflections inherent in this experience will then take me on to analyse the benefits of mediation for those involved, and to other reflections on mediation in the Juvenile Penal setting.
