La participación está en la base de nuestro actual sistema social. Pero, para que ésta tenga lugar, han de darse tres condiciones: la motivación (o el querer participar); la formación (o el saber participar); y la organización (o el poder participar). Hablar de la participación del pueblo gitano y el movimiento asociativo, supone preguntarse por las motivaciones de los gitanos y gitanas para la misma. Asimismo, supone preguntarse también por la formación y organización que posee el colectivo gitano para la tarea, la comunicación y cohesión grupal, y el funcionamiento asociativo. Responder a estas preguntas, desde la apuesta por la interculturalidad, es el propósito de este artículo.
Participation is at the root of today's social system. Yet in order for it to take place, three prior conditions must exist: motivation (wanting to participate); training (knowing how to participate): and organisation (being able to participate). Making reference to participation of the Gypsy people in the associative movement implies examining the motivations of Gypsy men and women to do so. At the same time, it implies examination of the training of Gypsies and the organisation inherent to their community to carry out this task, their group communication and cohesion, and associative operations. The objective of this article is to reach conclusions on these questions from an intercultural standpoint.
