Este artículo tuvo por objetivo evaluar el nivel de sostenibilidad socioambiental de una institución federal de enseñanza superior (IFES), por medio de aplicación del Modelo de Evaluación de Sostenibilidad Socioambiental, el MESS, propuesto por Freitas (2013). Además, se buscó analizar la percepción de informantes-claves, en relación a sustentabilidad, verificando las prácticas adoptadas por la institución relacionada al tema y examinar la asimilación del programa gubernamental: Agenda Ambiental de Administración Pública (A3P) en la IFES analizada. Se trata de una investigación que se clasifica en relación a objetivos como descriptiva, con abordaje cualitativo y cuantitativo. Con relación a los procedimientos, consistió en un estudio de caso. Para colectar los datos, fueron utilizados como instrumentos entrevistas semiestructuradas y cuestionario formulado a partir del MESS. Fue posible notar que la institución detiene encuadramiento en prácticas, acciones y programas focalizados al tema sustentabilidad; los informantes claves demostraron visiones diferentes acerca de la temática y otros informaron desconocer la existencia del programa A3P. El grado de sustentabilidad de la IFES evaluada fue considerado “sustentable”, a pesar de presentar procesos que precisan ser revisados para eliminar y/o mitigar puntos negativos y alcanzar el nivel de excelencia en la gestión socioambiental.
This article aims to evaluate the level of social and environmental sustainability of a Federal Institution of Higher Education (FIHE), through the implementation of the Social and Environmental Sustainability Assessment Model, the SESAM proposed by Freitas (2013).In addition, it sought to examine the perceptions of key informants in relation to sustainability; check the practices adopted by the institution related to the topic and examine the assimilation of Environmental Agenda in Public Administration - A3P in analyzed FIHE. 0This is a survey that ranks over goals in descriptive, with qualitative and quantitative approach. Regarding the proceedings, it consists of a case study. To collect data, the instruments semi-structured interviews and questionnaire formulated from the SESAM were used. It observed that the institution develop engagement practices, actions and programs geared to sustainability; the key informants showed different views on the theme and others reported not having knowledge of A3P.The level of sustainability of rated FIHE was considered "sustainable", despite having processes that need to be reviewed in order to eliminate and / or mitigate negative points and reach the level of excellence in environmental and social management.
