Desde inicio de los años 90 del siglo pasado, los cultivos transgénicos, se emplean en la agricultura, en una escalada tal, que compromete la supervivencia de las bases genéticas de múltiples especies de plantas. El desarrollo e implementación de estos nuevos organismos en el contexto de la agricultura, es promovido, esencialmente, por los países desarrollados, existiendo legislaciones que regulan su utilización; sin embargo las implicaciones en el plano de la agrobiodiversidad en los países en desarrollo, son muy discutidas; por los efectos nocivos ya probados en el ámbito del medio natural y el hombre, así como su relación con la bioética y la salud del hombre. En el presente trabajo se realiza una valoración del empleo de los cultivos transgénicos en la agricultura y su relación con el medio natural.
Since the beginning of the 90´s of the last century, transgenic growing have been used in the agriculture in such a large scale that the survival of the genetic basic of multiple species of plants is in danger. The development and implementation of those new organisms in the agricultural context is essentially promoted by developed countries; there are laws that regulate their use. Nevertheless , the implication in the field of agrobiodiversity in the developing countries , are highly discussed , due to the negative impact already proved in the environment and men, as well as its relationship with bioethics, and human health .This paper is intended to value the use of transgenic growing in the agriculture and its relationship with the environment.
