University libraries are integrated in the research cycle and add value to each of the phases of the cycle by implementing new partnerships with teachers and researchers. The research data management stimulates service innovation and also the updating of information literacy courses that also include now data literacy. There is not yet a standard curriculum, but many authors agree on some key competences on data literacy. Some examples of courses on the research data management provided by university libraries in Ita ly are described.
