El artículo analiza la evolución del papel del transporte, y más especialmente del transporte aéreo, que está permitiendo al turismo el acceso a las regiones meridionales de Francia. Históricamente, los ciudadanos británicos visitaban Francia en tren o coche, ya que el precio de los viajes aéreos era restrictivo y las rutas que se habían sólo se establecieron con las grandes ciudades. Con la construcción del túnel del Canal de la Mancha y con la introducción de las Compañías de Bajo Coste (LCC) en Europa, el turismo británico ha aumentado hacia numerosos destinos franceses. Estos nuevos medios de transporte han llenado el vacío facilitando el acceso a ciudades más pequeñas y facilitando el acceso a la calidad de vida francesa en el campo de los británicos. Se está produciendo un cambio en el número de visitas, del norte de Francia hacia el sur debido a la amplia variedad de opciones de viaje. El sur de Francia se está volviendo más atractivo para el turismo británico por el precio comparativamente bajo de la vivienda, los vínculos históricos entre los dos países, y la tradición del patrimonio cultural. Otras atracciones incluyen paisajes, el clima mediterráneo, castillos y pueblos medievales restaurados, y la abundancia de la cocina francesa tradicional con sus vinos regionales. Debido a la disponibilidad de las LCC, algunos turistas británicos han decidido instalarse en el sur de Francia y disfrutar de los vínculos históricos que son famosos entre los dos países. Muchos pueden ahora disfrutar de la vida turística durante largos períodos en el sur de Francia a través de la compra de una segunda casa. También es posible seguir trabajando en Inglaterra, ya que los CBC lo hacen posible, desplazándose entre sus residencias intercontinentales. A través de una revisión de las temáticas y de la bibliografía, el artículo analiza así la evolución del transporte aéreo en relación con el patrimonio para el turismo británico en el sur de Francia.
The article discusses the evolving role of transportation, and more especially air transport enabling tourism access to regions in the South of France. Historically, British citizens visited France by train, coach or car as the cost of air travel was restrictive and routes were only established in larger cities. ith the advent of the Channel Tunnel and Low Cost Carriers (LCCs) in Europe, British tourism has increased within numerous destinations in France. These new means of transportation have filled the gap by providing easy access to smaller towns and allowing British tourists the French quality of life in the countryside. There is a shift in visitation numbers from the north of France to the south due to the wider range of travel choices. The South of France is becoming more attractive to British tourism because of the comparatively inexpensive cost of housing, the historical links between the two countries, and the cultural heritage of tradition. Other attractions include landscapes, the Mediterranean climate, restored medieval castles and villages, and the abundance of traditional French cuisine with regional wines. Due to the availability of LCCs some British tourists have chosen to settle and enjoy the historical links that are famous between the two countries. Many are now able to enjoy the tourist life for extended periods in the South of France by purchasing a second home. It’s also now possible to keep working in England as the LCCs make it affordable and possible to commute between their intercontinental homes. Through a review of issues and literature, the article will discuss the evolving air transportation heritage related to British tourism in the South of France.
