    La disuasión es un término empleado de forma frecuente en los documentos oficiales relacionados con las políticas de seguridad. Sin embargo, estos documentos rara vez profundizan en el modelo de disuasión que se pretende poner en ejercicio, ni, en consecuencia, dan directrices que permitan organizar a sus medios militares para aplicarlo.

    «Dissuasion» is a term frequently mentioned in the offi cial documents related to security policies. however, these documents hardly go in depth about the model of dissuasion chosen, and therefore, they give no clues about how to organize the military means in charge of execu-ting the selected model. Th e aim of this paper is to defi ne as precisely as possible the concept, to explain the diff erent models generally accepted in the classical theory on dissuasion, with the respective pros and cons, and to present the main military and political implications linked to the adoption of one or another model.in spite of the fact that most of the studies on dissuasion are focused on nuclear dissuasion, this paper is centered in conventional dissuasion, because this is the kind of dissuasion applicable to spain.
