The article examines the exemplification of nationalism during the Olympic Games in Germany in 1936 and in China in 2008. A background on the story behind the establishment of a new stadium to host the 1936 Olympics as directed by German dictator Adolf Hitler, despite the Nazi party referring to the Olympics as a festival dominated by Jews, is presented. Also discussed are the similarities between Germany and China in terms of their attitudes toward the expense of hosting the Olympics.
