This article describes the General Library of the Custody of the Holy Land, located in the Convent of San Salvatore, the historical site of the Custody of the Holy Land. The text analyzes the different historical phases of the library and then considers the collection of books contained in it. The books are being cataloged, studied and valued as a part of the project “Libri Ponti di Pace” promoted by the CRELEB (Centro di Ricerca Europeo Libro Editoria Biblioteca) of the Catholic University of Milan. The article also explores the future developments involving the expansion of the project in a perspective striving to preserve and make known a wealth of books of great historical and documentary value.
