En este trabajo se intenta unir dos de las más grandes iniciativas que se encuentran actualmente en boga: el open access y el software libre. De la primera se marca la importancia que tiene como recurso para la localización y recuperación de documentos cinetíficos y académicos de forma inmediata, se describen de manera general sus inicios, características, público al que va dirigido, entre otros aspectos. El software libre: también se describe de manera general, basándose principalmente en las cuatro libertades que lo caracterican.
This paper attempts to join two of the biggest iniciatives that are currently in vogue: open access and open source software. As for open access, the importance as a resource for locating and retrieving scientific and academic documents, immediately, is highlighted; this paper also describes ingeneral terms, its inception, features and audience to which it is aimed, among other things. The open source software is also described in general, based primarily on the four freedoms that characterize it.
