The article focuses on the book / "Diari di San Gersolè" by the teacher Maria Maltoni (Florence, 1949), starting from a copy donated to the Gabinetto Disegni e Stampe of the Uffizi Gallery. The work was published by an environment of intellectuals and artists, among them the figure of the great architect Giovanni Michelucci. Shocked by the direct experience of the Second World War, they considered the idea of "open school" or "shool city", described in the Diaries of the teacher Maltoni, as a beginning of a renewed society, This book was part of a series of initiatives to make known widely the new school experiences.
