The article offers the first results of a survey on readership of electronic journals currently under way in a library devoted to social sciencies (Turin University). Sorces are a user survey carried out in the fall/winter 2010, the results of an inquiry on paper readership and the statistics of an important Italian publisher.
The main outcome shows an average increase of readership of about four times in the paper/electronic switch-over. Moreover, the most consulted periodicals popular have confirmed their reading ranking after the electronic switch-over (showing higher performance than the less popular ones).
