    Chinese irredentism is part of a global strategy aiming at the reconstitution of the Empire (there is no longer any international control over the future of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) by playing the political against the economic card. However, continued underestimation of the political dimension could lead China’s central power to become the main victim of its strategy of national reunification.

    L’irrédentisme chinois relève d’une stratégie globale visant à reconstituer l’Empire – les questions de Hong Kong, Macao et Taiwan ont été soustraites à toute compétence internationale – en jouant, chaque fois, l’économique contre le politique. Mais le politique ne saurait toutefois être sous-estimé, au risque de voir le pouvoir central chinois lui-même succomber à sa stratégie de réunification nationale.
