Este trabajo analiza la sustentabilidad de las organizaciones que realizan actividades de explotación del tule Thypha spp en la Laguna de Zapotlán y su impacto en el desarrollo socioeconómico y ambiental de los municipios de Gómez Farías y Zapotlán el Grande. La hipótesis inicial delimita el escaso capital social de las organizaciones limita la sustentabilidad del desarrollo, a pesar de que contribuye al crecimiento de ingresos para más de 300 familias de San Sebastián del Sur y en menor escala de Cd. Guzmán. El método de investigación empleado es el etnográfico, complementado con trabajo de campo apoyado con entrevistas informales, investigación documental y bibliográfica. La principal conclusión es que no existe un equilibrio entre la sustentabilidad de las organizaciones debido al escaso capital social y la sustentabilidad del desarrollo ambiental y económico que debiera ser considerado por el programa de rehabilitación de la Laguna de Zapotlán a efecto de mejorar los niveles de ingreso, rescatar y crear nuevas fuentes de empleo y mejorar los niveles de calidad de vida de las cerca de trescientas familias que dependen del cultivo y explotación artesanal del tule. Se sugiere dar mayor sustentabilidad a las micro y pequeñas empresas artesanales la creación de un programa de asesoría de exportación del producto artesanal derivado del tule a efecto de ampliar el valor agregado que proporciona el manejo propio de los procesos de comercialización en mercados internacionales.
In this paper it is analyzed the organizations sustainability which are committed to the exploitation activities of tule Thypha spp at the Zapotláns Lagoon and its socioeconomic and environmental impact in the municipalities of Gómez Farías and Zapotlán el Grande.
The initial hypothesis delimits the consideration of the scarce social capital of the organizations which limits developments sustainability, although it contributes to the increasing of incomes for more than 300 families in San Sebastián del Sur and in a small scale in Cd. Guzmán. The research method employed is the ethnographic complemented with field work supported by informal interviews, documental and bibliographic research. The main conclusion is that there is not equilibrium between organizations sustainability due to scarce social capital and environmental and economic development sustainability which should be considered for the rehabilitation program of the Zapotláns Lagoon in order to improve the life quality levels of around three hundred families which are dependable of cultivation and art craft exploitation of tule. Besides, it is suggested that in order to give more sustainability to the micro and small art crafts enterprises the creation of a consultancy program of art craft products exports derived from the tule on the effect to increase the added value which are proportioned by the proper management of commercialization processes in international markets. Although it was not explicit in the research objectives, however it was found that the scarce organizational social capital and the lack of adequate forms of organization for productivity contribute to limit the scope and economic benefits which must give an adequate exploitation of tule of the Zapotlán´s Lagoon.
