En el debate sobre los regímenes democráticos, un importante conjunto de estudios ha puesto su atención en el papel de las asociaciones civiles. En ese conjunto podemos encontrar cierta preocupación por si el protagonismo de las asociaciones civiles está suponiendo un cambio del modelo de democracia liberal hacia otro post-liberal. Este artículo propone un breve análisis del papel que juegan las asociaciones civiles en los sistemas políticos democráticos y de sus posibles desarrollos. El análisis se centra en la actuación de las asociaciones en uno de los procesos políticos fundamentales, el de la representación. Esto requiere hacer un boceto de la situación actual de la democracia y hacer una presentación muy esquemática del concepto de representación política.
In the debate on the democratic regimes, an important set of studies has put its attention in the role of civil associations. Is the protagonism of the civil associations supposing a change of the model of liberal democracy towards a post-liberal one? This is one key question. This article proposes a brief analysis of the role that the civil associations are playing in the contemporary democratic political systems. The analysis focuses on the performance of the associations in the political representation process, as one of the fundamental political processes. To this end, the article considers the current situation of the democracy and presents an overview about the concept of political representation.
