L'esclat de la societat mediàtica a Catalunya.
El Matí, un diari dels temps, un diari a contracorrent [ FRANCESC CANOSA Entre el final del segle XIX i el primer terç del segle XX, Catalunya passa d'una societat tradicional a una societat de masses. Tot canvia amb la urbanització, la industrialització, les noves formes d'oci, el progrés tecnològic, les aspiracions socials i politiques. Els mitjans de comunicació es convertiran en portaveus deis canvis d'una nova societat, que amb l'adveniment de la República ja esdevindrà també una societat mediàtica. La realitat passa per la premsa, la ràdio, el cinema i la publicitat; el naixement, el 1929, d' `El Matí" és un reflex de la il¿lusió d'aquell país. Un diari catòlic, catalanista, social, modern, elegant, europeu i sensible als postulats de la naixent Unió Democràtica de Catalunya. Un diari dels temps, pero també un diari a contracorrent, perquè li va tocar viure una epoca paradoxal, minada d'extrems socials i polítics. Un diari ferm i coherent que, des del paper, va aportar tot tipus d'innovacions ideològiques i periodístiques. Un diari que va viure una tragedia doble pel fet de ser catòlic i catalanista. Un diari com una Catalunya que continua essent invisible, malgrat ser real.
The explosion of the media society in Catalonia.
El Mati, a newspaper of our times, swimming against the tide [FRANCESC CANOSA] Between the end of the 19th Century and the first three decades of the 20th Century, Catalonia went from being a traditional society to a society of masses. Everything changed with urbanisation, industrialisation, the new forms of leisure, technological progress and social and political aspirations. The mass media became the spokesperson of the changes of a new society, which, with the the advent of the Republic, would also become a media society. Reality was filtered through the press, radio, cinema and advertising; in 1929, the birth of `El Matí" mirrored the dreams and aspirations of that country. A catholic, "Catalanist", social, modern, elegant, European daily that was receptive to the postulates of the nascent Unió Democràtica de Catalunya. A daily of its era, but also one that went against the tide, because it existed at a time of paradoxes, in a minefield of social and political extremes. A firm and consistent daily that provided all types of ideological and journalistic innovations. A daily that suffered from the twofold tragedy of being Catholic and nationalist. A daily which, like Catalonia, is still invisible, albeit real.
