El III estilo, dentro del panorama general de la pintura romana en España y, en particular, de los 4 estilos, es el mejor representado no sólo cualitativa sino también cuantitativamente. Las decoraciones pictóricas asimilables al III estilo se desarrollan desde el Principado de Augusto hasta Claudio y se difunden por toda la Península. Nuestro trabajo pretende sistematizar la información existente y plantear una propuesta cronológica basada en las estratigrafías arqueológicas, sistemas compositivos y repertorios ornamentales.
The 3rd style, within the general panorama of Roman painting in Spain and in particular that of the 4 styles, is the best represented style both qualitatively and quantitatively. The pictorial decorations which can be attributed to the 3rd style date from the Principate of Augustus to Claudius and are found throughout the Iberian Peninsula. The aim of our work is to systemise the existing information and develop a chronological proposal based on archaeological stratigraphies, compositional systems and ornamental repertoires.
