Antoni Ferrando, linguistic historian Deepening the philological imprint of Manuel Sanchis Guarner, Professor Antoni Ferrando has investigated over decades a wide range of aspects of the history of the Catalan language in the Valencian territory, covering almost all periods. The article reviews the main achievements of his research effort in this disciplinary field, points out his driving ideas and highlights his capacity for historiographic criticism, with which Ferrando has advanced the knowledge of our linguistic past, from the Middle Ages to the convulsions of the present.
Aprofundint l’empremta filològica d’en Manuel Sanchis Guarner, el professor Antoni Ferrando ha indagat al llarg de dècades en un extens ventall d’aspectes de la història de la llengua catalana al País Valencià, que gairebé en cobreix tots els períodes. L’article repassa les principals consecucions del seu esforç investigador en aquest camp disciplinar, n’apunta les idees motrius i en destaca la capacitat de crítica historiogràfica, amb què Ferrando ha fet avançar el coneixement del nostre passat lingüístic, des de l’Edat mitjana a les convulsions del present.
