The article addresses the historical restriction of Article 28 of the Political Constitution, which prohibits political propaganda by clerics invoking religious motives. This civil limitation is reinforced by Canon Law (canons 285 §3 and 287 §2), which prohibits clerics from actively participating in political parties or from assuming public office with civil power. The practical guidelines require avoiding support or rejection of candidates or parties in preaching and social networks and prohibiting the use of ecclesial spaces for partisan activities or propaganda, but not encouraging informed and responsible voting.
