This article analyzes the scope, limits, and challenges of using generative artificial intelligence in the judiciary in Colombia. Based on recent case studies, the current regulatory framework, and the results of the national survey conducted by the Superior Council of the Judiciary, the article examines the potential of these tools to improve judicial efficiency, as well as the tensions they generate concerning the principle of due process and judicial autonomy. It concludes that, while AI can support operational tasks under regulated conditions, its intervention should not replace judicial reasoning, the assessment of evidence, or substantive decisions, functions that correspond exclusively to the legal practitioner. It also highlights the need to reduce regional digital divides and enhance training processes in the ethical and responsible use of these technologies, to ensure a digital justice system that is inclusive, efficient, and respects fundamental rights.
