Despite their legal status, health is a right that cannot be denied to people deprived of their liberty (PDL). The objective of this study is to characterize the health status of the PDL in Mexico. A crosssectional quantitative study was conducted based on two secondary data sources, and primary data from the Tepepan Women's Social Reintegration Center (CEFERESO-T). The results show that 42.9% of prisons in Mexico were overcrowded, only the 21% of PDL received hygiene supplies, 60.7% of inmates at CEFERESO-T lived with one or more illnesses, the prevalence of overweight and obesity was 82%, and only 29% complied with the recommendation of physical activity.
