Self-directed learning has acquired a key role in today's educational context, driven by the need to adapt to constant changes and foster the development of lifelong skills. This type of learning involves a critical appropriation of personal and social experience, allowing for the creative application of knowledge and values in different contexts. Within this framework, artificial intelligence (AI) tools have emerged as innovative resources that strengthen self-directed learning by offering personalized experiences tailored to each student's needs and promoting self-regulation as the basis for learning how to learn. AI has transformed the way we teach and learn by facilitating access to resources, providing real-time feedback, and enhancing student motivation and organization. These platforms, using intelligent algorithms, adjust content based on individual pace and performance, allowing us to focus efforts on areas for improvement and advance in those already mastered, optimizing the learning process and increasing student engagement. This article aims to describe how digital AI tools contribute to the autonomous learning of students in the Computer Science Pedagogy program at the Technical University of Babahoyo.
