Interculturality in the Ecuadorian educational context is presented as an essential orientation for the inclusion of all, and it also makes references to respect for cultural diversity. This perception has been integrated into the educational system after the promulgation of the 2008 Constitution, which recognizes Ecuador as a plurinational and multicultural country. Intercultural education seeks not only the coexistence of diverse cultures, but also their integration in the educational process, promoting learning that values the cultural identities of all students without belittling anyone. The main challenge lies in the effective implementation of state policies that guarantee inclusive education in all its areas, which implies training teachers capable of addressing cultural and linguistic diversity, as well as developing curricula that reflect this reality. The Organic Law on Intercultural Education establishes clear and precise guidelines for bilingual education, promoting the use of indigenous languages along with Spanish at all educational levels. However, there are significant obstacles. The lack of preparation of some educators and cultural resistance are barriers that hinder the practical application of these elements. In addition, it is essential to encourage an active commitment among all educational representatives - teachers, parents and students to achieve a true social transformation of change within education.
In summary, although interculturality represents opportunities to enrich the Ecuadorian educational system, its success will depend on a massive effort to overcome existing challenges by ensuring that all voices are heard and valued in the educational field.
