In the current context, background research revealed a decline in children's participation in traditional recreational activities due to the increasing prevalence of electronic devices and busy school schedules. This has raised concerns about the decline in the physical and mental health of children, as well as their ability to interact socially. The aim of this study was to analyze theoretical and methodological postulates regarding recreational games in children's leisure time. The methodology employed was a systematic review applying the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses) protocol. Through the critical analysis of bibliographic sources primarily published in the last 5 years (2019-2023), articles in Spanish, English, and Portuguese from databases such as Latindex, Redalyc, Dialnet, and Scielo were selected using search engines like Google Scholar and Semantic Scholar. The main expected outcomes after the article's completion include a document that systematizes the theoretical and methodological aspects of recreational games for children's leisure time. Furthermore, it highlights the primary innovative contributions of the authors, a document that will contribute to better preparing teachers working with these age groups for the development of recreational activities and the use of children's leisure time.
