El presente artículo tuvo como objetivo analizar la importancia de la producción de arroz en el desarrollo económico del Cantón Babahoyo, los altos costo de producción, precios y comercialización inciden de manera directa en los ingresos de los pequeños productores, lo que ha ocasionado inestabilidad en la economía del mercado local. La metodología de la investigación estuvo compuesta por las modalidades cualitativa y cuantitativa, el tipo de investigación fue explicativa, bibliográfica y exploratoria; los métodos que se aplicaron fueron analítico-sintético e inductivo-deductivo; las técnicas de información utilizadas para desarrollar el trabajo fueron principalmente información secundaria, documentos de referencia elaborados por investigadores y otras organizaciones, se realizó una revisión de datos cuantitativos emitidos por organismos como el Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Control, INEC, Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería, MAG, Encuesta de Superficie y Producción Agropecuaria Continua, ESPAC, el Banco Central del Ecuador, BCE, entre otros. Herramientas utilizadas: sitios web, información bibliográfica, reporte de fuentes oficiales, libros, cuaderno, esferográficos, Lápiz, borrador, computadora, tinta, impresora, hojas, tecnología existente. Para el alcance del trabajo se tuvo como base el cumplimiento de los objetivos, el sustento teórico, metodológico y técnico; cuyos resultados revelaron que la producción de arroz tiene efecto positivo en el desarrollo económico del cantón Babahoyo.
The objective of this article was to analyze the importance of rice production in the economic development of the Babahoyo Canton, the high cost of production, prices and marketing directly affect the income of small producers, which has caused instability in the economy of the local market. The research methodology consisted of qualitative and quantitative modalities, the type of research was explanatory, bibliographical and exploratory; the methods that were applied were analytical-synthetic and inductive-deductive; The information techniques used to develop the work were mainly secondary information, reference documents prepared by researchers and other organizations, a review of quantitative data issued by organizations such as the National Institute of Statistics and Control, INEC, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, MAG, Surface Survey and Continuous Agricultural Production, ESPAC, the Central Bank of Ecuador, BCE, among others, was carried out. Tools used: websites, bibliographic information, report from official sources, books, notebook, pens, pencil, eraser, computer, ink, printer, sheets, existing technology. The scope of the work was based on the fulfillment of the objectives, the theoretical, methodological and technical support; whose results revealed that rice production has a positive effect on the economic development of the Babahoyo Canton.
