Since its establishment 55 years ago, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has developed methodologies to identify and disseminate good practices in the design and implementation of public policies among its member countries. Therefore, the contribution of the OECD and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is widely recognized, as they have, for the second time, extended their analytical framework to Latin American and Caribbean countries to assess their practices and performance through a comparative study of quantitative and qualitative indicators, which the OECD regularly monitors among its member countries. This research provides an up-to-date perspective on how the states of Latin America and the Caribbean are performing and what their new challenges are within the region after a decade of economic growth.
The comparison of 29 public administrations in Latin America and the Caribbean includes ten countries that were not considered in the first edition (2014). In this way, the book provides the most comprehensive overview available of the current situation of the countries in the region and makes it possible to identify the extent of the gap that separates them from OECD countries.
