This paper analyzes the incorporation of elements from the Catholic symbolic universe into the discourse, identity, and mobilization repertoire of the Confederation of Workers of the Popular Economy (CTEP) during the period 2011–2019. It examines how this process involved an active and contested appropriation of religious language, marked by internal tensions running through its membership. Organizational mediation brought popular faith into play within the union's advocacy and organizational processes, while exceeding purely utilitarian logics — expressing and crystallizing the popular experience of faith and politics. Against a backdrop of uncertainty surrounding the future of popular politicity, the article proposes the CTEP's experience as a mirror in which to recognize the creative capacity and symbolic vitality of these actors in contemporary Argentina.
