The tourism infrastructure in the Ecuadorian Amazon is challenged by the growing quality demands of its visitors. While the Ministry of Tourism regulates essential services, many tourist centers, particularly in the buffer zone of the Colonso Chalupas Biological Reserve, lack quality certifications and fail to implement best practices. This study examined the compliance of two tourist centers in the area with the Q distinction, aiming to identify the compliance gap and use it to define improvement actions. The results showed that one center met 67,5% of the standards, while the other met only 35%. These results underscore the importance of improving infrastructure, developing organizational manuals, and implementing customer information and satisfaction programs. Such measures are essential for achieving sustainable tourism standards and enhancing service quality in ecologically sensitive regions.
