This article analyzes access to justice in Brazil, a fundamental right guaranteed by the Federal Constitution of 1988, with a special focus on the role of Public Defender's Offices and Special Courts as instruments for the democratization of the judiciary. The research problem addressed concerns the effectiveness of this access — that is, whether it is truly broad and democratic or still restricted for part of the population, especially the most vulnerable. Based on a bibliographic and documentary approach, combined with the analysis of descriptive data, the study seeks to understand the main social and procedural obstacles that hinder the full exercise of access to justice in Brazil. From this, the paper investigates the role, functioning, and effectiveness of these institutions in promoting justice, highlighting progress while pointing out limitations still present in practice. It concludes that, although essential, such instruments still require improvements to ensure full and equal access to justice in Brazil.
